Actim PROM Rapid Diagnostic Test for Premature Rupture of Membranes

Premature Rupture of Membranes (PROM) is a significant obstetric complication that can lead to numerous serious risks for both mother and baby, including infection, preterm birth, fetal distress, and even death. Accurate and timely diagnosis of this condition is a crucial factor for appropriate and prompt medical intervention, protecting the health and safety of both the pregnant woman and the fetus.

The Actim PROM rapid diagnostic test for premature rupture of membranes is a new solution that provides reliable test results and optimal convenience for both clinicians and expectant mothers.

What is Actim PROM?

Actim PROM is a rapid test designed to detect the presence of Insulin-like Growth Factor Binding Protein-1 (IGFBP-1). IGFBP-1 is produced in chorionic cells and secreted into the amniotic fluid.

Actim PROM is based on highly specific monoclonal antibodies that bind to Insulin-like Growth Factor Binding Protein-1 (IGFBP-1). The concentration of IGFBP-1 in amniotic fluid increases early in pregnancy and remains high until birth. Amniotic fluid is typically not found in the vagina, but when the fetal membranes rupture, amniotic fluid leaks into the vagina, and IGFBP-1 concentrations rapidly increase. Actim PROM detects IGFBP-1 in vaginal fluid samples collected with a sterile swab, helping to identify premature rupture of membranes. With an optimal detection limit, Actim PROM can identify even minute traces of amniotic fluid, while minimizing the risk of false positive results due to the normally very low concentrations of IGFBP-1 found in the vagina during pregnancy.

Key Advantages of the Actim PROM Rapid Test:

  • High Accuracy: Actim PROM boasts high sensitivity and specificity. This helps minimize false positive or false negative results, avoiding unnecessary anxiety or missed diagnoses.

  • Rapid Results: Results are available in just 5 minutes, allowing clinicians to make quick and timely clinical decisions.

  • Easy to Use: The test kit is simple and easy to perform, requiring no complex equipment.

  • Actim PROM can detect even small leaks or ruptures that are not clinically visible.

  • Can be performed at any gestational age when PROM is suspected.

  • Not interfered with by common interfering substances: blood, semen, urine, etc.(*)

  • (*) For a full list of tested interfering substances, please contact SISC Vietnam Equipment Joint Stock Company via the information at the bottom of the website to receive the Actim PROM User Manual.

Actim PROM Testing Procedure

Step 1: Collect a sample from the posterior vaginal fornix using a specialized swab (10-15 seconds)
Step 2: Vigorously rotate the swab in the sample extraction buffer tube for 10-15 seconds. Remove the swab and press the swab tip against the side of the tube.
Step 3: Dip the yellow end of the test strip into the sample extraction solution
Step 4: Once the solution has migrated to the result window, remove the test strip and lay it horizontally.

Step 5: Read the result at 5 minutes.

  • Two blue lines: The test result is positive. Amniotic fluid is present in the vagina.
  • One blue line: If one control line appears, the test result is negative, indicating no amniotic fluid is present in the vagina, and the membranes may be intact. If no control line appears, the result is invalid.

    Product Packaging Information

Traditionally, the diagnosis of premature rupture of membranes (PROM) relies on various clinical symptoms. As symptoms can vary widely, diagnosing PROM can sometimes be challenging and time-consuming. With its outstanding advantages in accuracy, speed, and safety, the Actim PROM rapid diagnostic test for premature rupture of membranes is a useful new solution for modern maternal care. The widespread adoption and use of Actim PROM will significantly contribute to protecting the health and safety of both mother and baby, reducing dangerous complications associated with PROM.
